Cases of Covid-19 rise to 20,863. Death toll at 735
The number of people infected with coronavirus in the country has increased to 20,863. There are now 735 deaths.
According to the Directorate General for Health (DGS), Portugal’s confirmed cases of coronavirus increased by 657 and 21 people died in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll from the disease to 735 and the number of infected to 20,863.
Of the 20,863 people infected with the new coronavirus, the majority are recovering at home. 1,208 people are hospitalized, 215 of whom are in intensive care units.
There are still 4,739 cases awaiting laboratory results and, since the outbreak started in Portugal, 610 people have already been recovered.
Since the pandemic arrived in Portugal, the North has been the most affected region. It currently has a total of 12,543 confirmed cases and 424 deaths. By municipalities, Porto continues to stand out with 1,068 active cases, followed by Lisbon with 1,060.
