Carlos Tavares, chairman of PSA Peugeot Citroën, was appointed for the Board of the oil company Total; the voting will take place during the meeting on May, 26.

The Board of Directors of the oil company Total held a meeting to prepare the ‘Annual Shareholders’ Meeting’ and, particularly, a series of changes in the administration, since both Paul Desmarais and Barbara Kux, whose mandate ends now, do not intend to continue, explained Total in a press release.

In order to replace them, the CEO of Anglo American Mark Cutifani and the Portuguese Carlos Tavares have been appointed to shareholders.

Total Board member explained they chose Carlos Tavares because they consider he “will in particular bring to the Board his knowledge of the industrial world and the inland transport sector”, with connections to the oil and gas sector.

As for Mark Cutifani, the Board  highlight “his knowledge of industry and raw-material cyclical economy“, as well as his “professional experience in several countries where the Group is developing (Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Canada and the United Kingdom)”.
