Portuguese Government has eight new State secretaries
Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa exonerated seven State secretaries and eight new State secretaries have taken office this Friday.
Portuguese Government has eight new State secretaries. Seven are replacing the State secretaries who were dismissed, and there is one secretary for the new Housing State office.
The President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa exonerated seven State secretaries this Thursday, and this Friday, eight of them entered office. The eighth name, which does not correspond to a replacement, is Ana Cláudia Pinho, the new State secretary for Housing. This new State department was announced by the PM in this Wednesday’s state of the Nation debate.
This is the largest change in the 21st Constitutional Government since its very beginning in November 2015: seven new cabinet members will be heading State departments from five different ministries (Foreign Affairs, Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Finance, Economy, Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development). A new State Department will be created — Housing — and the architect Ana Pinho will be responsible for the Office.
