The Government's renewal will be presented tomorrow to the President. Yet, the PM announced this Wednesday a new Housing State Department will be created.
António Costa, Portuguese PM, will create a new State department dedicated to Housing. The announcement was made this Wednesday during the debate on the state of the Nation in Parliament. The rest of the government reshuffle will be presented tomorrow to the President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
“In the government reshuffle I will present to the President tomorrow, housing will become an independent State department”, disclosed António Costa.
The prime minister justifies the independence of the Housing office with the need to “make this new area a priority in public policies”. The attention will be on “middle class” and on “new generations”. The goal will be to avoid the excess indebtedness and also to keep populations from leaving the heart of the cities. “This way, we can promote the supply of accessible housing for rental”, states the Portuguese PM.
