Lisbon municipal assembly, parking company being searched

 Lisbon's street parking company the capital's Municipal Assembly are being searched by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Wednesday.

The head offices of Lisbon’s street parking company EMEL – Empresa Municipal de Mobilidade e Estacionamento de Lisboa and the Lisbon Municipal Assembly are being searched by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Wednesday, sources from the two entities confirmed to Lusa.

According to EMEL’s source, who referred clarifications to the PJ, the searches have been going on “since early morning”.

The press office of the Lisbon Municipal Assembly (AML) also confirmed to Lusa that the PJ is searching the headquarters of this municipal executive body, in Forum Lisbon.

The searches began “around 09:00” and are still ongoing, the same source said, adding that the services are cooperating, providing all the information requested, both physically and digitally.

The PJ mandate authorising the searches “is confidential”, he said, referring further clarification to the police.

Lusa contacted the Judiciary Police but has not yet received any information.
