European Commission sees Portugal’s GDP growing 4.5% this year, 5.3% next

In its previous forecasts, the European Commission had forecast growth of 3.9% this year and 5.1% next for Portugal's economy.

– The European Commission has issued updated forecasts for the growth of Portugal’s economy, of 4.5% this year and 5.3% next – figures that are lower than those announced by the government – according to the European Union executive’s Autumn Economic Forecast, released on Thursday.

The government itself currently forecasts growth in gross domestic product of 4.8% this year and 5.5% next.

In its previous forecasts, the Commission had forecast growth of 3.9% this year and 5.1% next for Portugal’s economy.
