The company's valuation increases to $10 billion, after raising $230 million in a Series D investment round.

Portuguese Talkdesk announced this Thursday the ending of its series D funding, where it raised $230 million and is now valued at over $10 billion, making it the first national company to reach this kind of level. Talkdesk also announced the appointment of Sydney Carey as CFO.

For many organizations, the contact centre is fast becoming a driver of tangible business results and an asset to the bottom line. Since its founding, Talkdesk has been challenging the status quo and shaking up the industry’s old world order to make this a reality. We’re grateful for the continued confidence in our strategy and more determined each day of our unique ability to help companies deliver memorable customer experiences, one engagement at a time,” said Tiago Paiva, founder and CEO of Talkdesk, cited by AP News.

This round was joined by new investors Whale Rock Capital Management, TI Platform Management and Alpha Square Group, as well as by existing investors Amity Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Top Tier Capital Partners, Viking Global Investors and Willoughby Capital. Since its inception, the tech company has raised $498 million in funding.

The new funding will “drive Talkdesk’s second decade of growth as the company continues to focus on expanding its presence internationally,” according to the company’s statement.

The company gains a new layer with Sydney Carey

The appointment of Sydney Carey, a well-known specialist in the SaaS-industry, is also a reflection of Talkdesk’s corporate maturation. She becomes the first CFO of the company and now half of the executive leadership positions are occupied by women.

“I’m proud to join Talkdesk at this pivotal moment in the company’s journey. Some of the most rewarding experiences in my career have centred around helping innovative, fast-growth companies like Talkdesk manage acceleration, scale effectively to meet changing business demands, and formalize operations,” said Carey, cited by AP News.

Sydney Carey’s curriculum includes professional experience at Sumo Logic, Duo Security, Apptus and MangoDB. She was also executive vice president and CFO at TIBCO Software. Currently, Carey is a member of the board of directors of Asana.
