TDX-UC is the name given to the new programme launched by Talkdesk in a partnership with the University of Coimbra (UC)’s Computer Science Department. This Academy will provide 240 hours of training, offering three monthly modules.

Each of them will be covering a specific topic as well as corresponding to two different stages:

  1. Two weeks of lectures to provide key-concepts and key-methods for these issues;
  2. Two weeks to develop and present an individual project to be mentored by a UC’s Associate Professor.

“Nowadays, technology and data prevail, data scientists being the most required professionals in the labour market. In Portugal, we observe a considerable scarcity of these experts in proportion to the increasing demand from companies. That was the gap we are trying to fill in”, João Coelho, Talent Director of Talkdesk, explains. Coelho also acknowledges “this is one more synergy between Talkdesk and the academic world, strengthening our connection with Coimbra’s tech ecosystem. It is also a way of adding value to the community in one of the most promising areas of the future”.

Applications for the first module are open until the 31st of August and are to start on the 16th of September. There are only 15 vacancies per module as the first one will be focusing on the natural language processing, supported by a Talkdesk’s software able to understand and mimic human language.

The enrollment price is 249€ per student and 399€ for non-students.
