Portugal registers new daily maximum of 10,027 new cases of Covid-19

Portugal exceeded 10,000 daily cases for the first time. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has reported 446,606 cases and 7,377 deaths.

There are 10,027 new cases of coronavirus compared to Tuesday bringing the total number of people infected with the disease to 446,606. It is the biggest daily increase in cases since the beginning of the pandemic. 91 people have died in the last 24 hours, according to the latest official report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

Of the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus, most are undergoing treatment at home, with 3,293 inpatients, 513 of them in intensive care units. There are over 100,000 under the surveillance of the health authorities.

Again, the North was the region with the highest number of daily cases (3,857), but Lisbon and Tagus Valley also registered a large number of infections (3,333). In the Centro Region, there have been a further 1,932 new cases of Coronavirus. The Alentejo registered 439, the Algarve 307, the Azores 107 and Madeira 52 cases.

Since it was detected in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has caused the death of 7,377 people, 91 of them in the last 24 hours.
