Portugal’s President enacts State Budget for 2021
More than a month after its approval by the Parliament, the President of the Republic received the State Budget for 2021 in Belém and decided to enact it.
The President of the Portuguese Republic decided on Tuesday to enact the State Budget for 2021 (OE 2021), as he did in previous budgets which have already passed through his hands, albeit with repairs and warnings. This is the last budget that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa enacts before the presidential elections, to which he is running again, scheduled for January 24.
Portugal’s President has decided to enact the State Budget due to the “urgency to fight against the Coronavirus pandemic and its community effects, as well as the adequate reception of European aid”, that is, the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), explained Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in a note published on the Presidency website.
The State Budget 2021 is to be published in the Official Gazette on December 31 and will enter into force the following day, on January 1, allowing the Government to start implementing the measures of the new budget.
