Mota-Engil wins 240 million contract in South Africa
The Portuguese company won a 240 million euros contract for "the preparation, excavation and transport in the 'Gamsberg Mine' in the Province of Northern Cape, South Africa."
Mota-Engil continues to focus on the African market. The Portuguese construction company announced on Wednesday a new contract worth 240 million euros in South Africa, this after winning contracts in Ivory Coast and Mozambique.
The work in South Africa will involve “the preparation, excavation and transport in the ‘Gamsberg Mine’ in the Province of Northern Cape,” according to information sent by Mota-Engil to the market regulator CMVM.
“The contract, now signed with Black Mountain Mining, establishes the start of the works in April 2021 with a maximum duration of 96 months and a total amount of circa of 240 million euros. The activity to be performed will involve site preparation, drilling, blasting, excavation of waste and ore and its transportation to designated dumps and stockpile areas. It also includes the construction and maintenance of roads, dewatering and lighting,” explains the construction company.
Last week, Mota-Engil announced contracts worth 170 million in Ivory Coast (rehabilitation of a stadium and construction of a lot on an open market) and Mozambique (construction of 12 buildings for the main activities of the country’s future refinery).
