The number of cases of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 44,416. Since the outbreak was detected in the country, 1,629 people have died.

Portugal has registered 287 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours. This is an increase of 0.65% compared to the previous day, with the total number of infected people rising to 44,416.

In the last 24 hours, nine more people have died from the disease, according to the latest update from Portugal’s health authorities (DGS). With these fatalities, the country’s death toll rises to 1,629.

Since mid-May, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has been the focus of health authorities’ greatest concerns, as it is also currently the region with the highest number of confirmed cases since the outbreak was detected in the country on March 2. 207 new cases have been identified in this region, representing about 72.13% of the national total.
