Portugal has banned the staging of music festivals in the country until the end of September, due to the new coronavirus.
Portugal’s government has banned the staging of music festivals in the country until 30 September, as part of measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus that causes Covid-19.
The announcement was made at the end of the day on Thursday, after a cabinet meeting that considered a range of such measures.
“In this context, it is necessary to prohibit the holding of music festivals until 30 September 2020, and the adoption of an exceptional regime aimed at music festivals that can not be held at the place, day or time scheduled, due to the pandemic,” reads the statement issued after the meeting.
The same statement says that for shows that were scheduled between 28 February and 30 September and which will not take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting restrictions, promoters may “issue a voucher of equal value to the ticket price paid, guaranteeing the rights of consumers.”
