Cases of Covid-19 rise to 18,091. Death toll at 599

The Directorate General for Health (DGS) increased the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Portugal to 18,091.

The number of people infected with coronavirus in the country has risen to 18,091. In just 24 hours, 643 new cases were confirmed, the Directorate General for Health (DGS) announced this Wednesday.

In the last 24 hours, the virus has killed 32 people, raising the death toll to 599. In addition, 383 people have already recovered from the disease.

Of the 18,091 people infected with the new coronavirus, the majority are recovering at home. 1,200 people are hospitalized, 208 of whom are in intensive care.

The country’s north continues to be the area with the most cases: there are already 10,751 people infected and 339 deaths. The Lisbon area appears immediately behind with 4,102 cases and 111 deaths, ahead of Centro with 2,629 cases and 136 fatalities. The Algarve has nine deaths and the Azores four.
