Portugal now with eight confirmed cases of Covid-19

There are two new cases that tested positive for the new coronavirus. Both cases were detected in the hospital of São João in Porto. So Portugal has eight infected with the new Covid-19.

Portugal has two more confirmed cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, bringing the number of confirmed cases to eight, the Ministry of Health (DGS) revealed on Thursday.

These two new confirmed cases are two men who are hospitalised in Porto.

In total, Portugal has eight confirmed cases of Covid-19. The patients are in hospitals in Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon.

In the bulletin issued at the end of Wednesday on the epidemiological situation in Portugal, the DGS reported that 117 suspected cases were registered.

The Covid-19 outbreak, which was detected in China in December and can cause respiratory infections such as pneumonia, has caused about 3,200 deaths and infected more than 93,000 people in 78 countries.

Italy, the most affected country in Europe, announced on Wednesday the closure of all schools and universities from today until March 15, as a precautionary measure in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic, which in the country has killed more than 100 people.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Covid-19 outbreak as an international public health emergency and increased the risk to “very high”.
