The Web Summit this year focused a lot on machine learning, AI, XR as ways to promote performance in tech and in business.

Transformation is digital, and businesses have increasingly less time to adapt to the new trends. Applying AI into company’s board administration level is all the rage right now, but many other things are buzzing in the tech world. Consulting companies are key to solving the issues that come up when businesses undergo digital transformation.

Accenture, one of the leading consulting companies in the world, was at the Web Summit focusing on these issues. Accenture is betting highly in Portugal, with branches in Porto, Braga and Lisbon. Their focus at the moment is to deliver double-digit revenue growth in the country, in line with their profit growth worldwide.

The consulting multinational has managed to transform its core identity completely, in the last few years, as the company’s structure underwent a massive digital transformation, with 60% of it having shifted towards digital. In 18 months, Accenture trained 18,000 of their employees to keep up with the additional skills such a transformation entails and also to help accelerate the transformation to digital.

New types of skills are required, ones which teams actually do not have at the moment.

As for their clients, Accenture believes that those who do not keep up with the digital transformation and refrain themselves by maintaining their traditions might eventually realize they have much more to gain if they bet on these innovations. Which innovations? For example, inserting AI in business decision making processes, or betting on new system interfaces by introducing the extended reality technology (XR), which includes AR and other newly developed immersive technologies which will dissolve many physical boundaries and promote more sustainable businesses.
