Costa will start the day in Leiria, where, at 09:45, he will visit the works underway at the Amor parish Health Unit and then go on to the Parceiros, Azoia and Barrosa Health Unit.

Portugal’s prime minister, António Costa, will be present on Wednesday at the start of a government initiative called “RRP Roadmap”, which aims to verify on the ground projects already underway throughout the national territory.

The implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), which involves more than €18 billion in subsidies and loans until 2026, is coordinated by the minister of the presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva.

On Wednesday, according to the government, “two emerging issues for which responses are urgent will be highlighted in the “RRP Roadmap”: Housing and health”.

This way, visits to the construction works of two new health units near Leiria and the construction works of university residences in Lisbon are planned.

On Wednesday, Costa will start the day in Leiria, where, at 09:45, he will visit the works underway at the Amor parish Health Unit and then go on to the Parceiros, Azoia and Barrosa Health Unit.

In this health unit, he will check the works in progress and give a speech according to the programme.

In the afternoon, two hours before the swearing-in of the new ministers of Infrastructure, João Galamba, and Housing, Marina Gonçalves, which is scheduled for 6 pm, António Costa will go to the construction works of the residences of the University of Lisbon.

Also in this session, the prime minister will make a speech at Alameda da Universidade in Lisbon.

According to a note from the government, the “RRP Roadmap” will have events “every week, with various initiatives spread over several days of the week and extending throughout the first months” of this year.

“The aim is to verify, on the ground, the implementation of projects already underway with RRP funds: in housing, health, social responses, support for businesses, culture, sustainable mobility, forests and digitalisation,” the note from the executive states.

At this point, the government stressed that “the RPR will enable a series of investments and structural reforms in Portugal aimed at boosting recovery and economic growth based on the three pillars of the commitment to the European Union: Resilience, Climate Transition and Digital Transition.
