Mota-Engil wins €1.3 billion contract in Mexico

The Portuguese company announced that the contract signed foresees "the construction of Lines 4, 5 and 6 of the Monterrey subway, with an extension of 36 km" with an estimated duration of 5 years. 

Mota-Engil Mexico has signed a railway contract worth €1.3 billion, in consortium with China’s CRRC, according to a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities and Exchange Commission (CMVM).

The Portuguese company stated that the contract foresees “the construction of Lines 4, 5 and 6 of the Monterrey subway, with an extension of 36 km” with an estimated duration of 5 years.

“With the award of this project, Mota-Engil consolidates its position in Mexico as one of the main railway players,” added the company headed by Gonçalo Moura Martins.

In the first half of this year, Mota-Engil recorded a net profit of €12 million, which represented an increase of 22% compared to the same period of the previous year.
