"We will continue to look at opportunities that may arise in other markets, which we have already looked at in the past," said Eduardo Ramos, CEO of Via Verde, in an interview with ECO.

Via Verde already has international destinations on the map for 2023; this is the Brisa group company’s big commitment after splitting the toll service from other mobility options earlier this year.

“We will continue to look at opportunities that may arise in other markets, which we have already looked at in the past,” said Eduardo Ramos, CEO of Via Verde, in an interview with ECO. The Brisa group has a strategic plan in place until 2025, and cross-border growth is one of the main goals.

Although without specifying countries, Spain is the market most likely to be in the front row for international expansion. “Some markets in Europe will develop their mobility, and we are seeing what possibility Via Verde has to work on those opportunities in the shareholder context we are in now, with a growth mandate.”

To expand, the company will focus on services “that already exist in Portugal and will have to replicate”. In addition to paying tolls, Via Verde’s identifier and mobile application also allow paying for parking in 41 municipalities and refuelling or recharging the car. In Spain, for the time being, there is only the toll payment service through an identifier.
