ANA wants to discourage the use of small aircraft in Lisbon
To discourage the use of small planes at Lisbon airport, ANA wants the minimum parking fee to rise from the current 14 tonnes to 45 tonnes.
Starting in 2022, ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal (Portuguese airport regulatory authority) plans to introduce changes to the tariff structure model at Lisbon, Porto and Faro airports to discourage the use of smaller aircraft, but also to adjust fees in the Algarve for periods of lower demand, Jornal de Negócios reported on Thursday.
Particularly at the capital’s airport, the company plans, regarding parking fees, that “the minimum value will go from the current 14 tons to 45 tons, thus discouraging the use of smaller aircraft. This way, there will no longer be a difference in the amount charged to aircraft below 45 tonnes.
A company source told the newspaper that this proposal aims to promote “faster rotations and reduce the cost of parking at night, when the airport has operating limitations due to environmental reasons. The intention is that, for parking periods of less than 24 hours, the fee will be charged on a per-minute basis, with an exemption applied for that period between midnight and 6 am.
