Web Summit will return as an in-person event, taking place between November 1 and 4.

This year’s Web Summit will return as an in-person event, Paddy Cosgrave, the event’s creator, has announced. Last year, the pandemic had forced Europe’s biggest technology and entrepreneurship conference to be held online. But the next edition will return to FIL and the Altice Arena in Lisbon between November 1 and 4.

“Web Summit has been given the full green light and will be happening in person in Lisbon this November,” Paddy Cosgrave wrote in a post on Twitter.

Speaking to Reuters, the organisers indicated that they have been in regular contact with health authorities “to set-up a Covid-safe event”.

According to the communications manager Katherine Farrell, it has not yet been decided whether masks or tests will be required at the entrance. But the area is being prepared to ensure the possibility of social distancing between participants.

Despite being held in person, the Web Summit sessions will continue to be broadcast online, as was already the case before the pandemic. The event will have more than 1,000 speakers and 1,250 startups are expected to participate, according to Web Summit.
