The strike by SEF inspectors registered a 100% adhesion in the night shifts and airports, with only the minimum services being fulfilled.

A strike by Portuguese immigration officers (SEF) is causing constraints in border control at Lisbon airport, with waiting times in the arrivals area that can reach four hours, according to the airport operator, ANA.

ANA also said that to control flows and avoid further crowding of passengers, the airport is, where necessary, limiting the disembarkation of flights.

In the note, the company said that ANA teams had been reinforced to provide support to passengers.

The strike by SEF inspectors registered a 100% adhesion in the night shifts and airports, with only the minimum services being fulfilled.

The strike by SEF inspectors is taking place on the day that the government’s proposal to “abolish” this security service is being debated.

The SCIF/SEF said that the strike had been decreed in all workplaces, and between 00:00 and 24:00 today, “all service activity will be suspended,” with only minimum services being maintained.

The government’s draft law defines the transfer of police powers of the Foreigners and Borders Service to the PSP, GNR and Judiciary Police. Changes made under the restructuring of SEF will be discussed today in parliament.
