Vaccination effort achieves new daily record of 154,600 doses

According to the latest report on vaccination, released on Tuesday, 57% of Portugal's population has now had at least one dose of a vaccine against Covid-19, while 36% are fully inoculated.

Portugal’s national programme of vaccination against Covid-19 saw a new daily record on Tuesday, with more than 154,600 doses administered, the task force overseeing the process reported on Wednesday.

The task force, which is headed by Henrique Gouveia e Melo, a vice-admiral, also said in the release that “more than 297,000 vaccines” were administered over two days, stressing that this achievement “was only possible with the understanding and patience of all patients and the professionalism and commitment of health professionals.”

According to the latest report on progress with vaccination, released on Tuesday, 57% of Portugal’s population has now had at least one dose of a vaccine against Covid-19, while 36% are fully inoculated.

Since the pandemic reached Portugal in March 2020 there have been 17,118 deaths associate with Covid-19 and 892,741 confirmed cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes it, according to the Directorate-General of Health.
