Transmissibility Index rises to 0.94, new case incidence falls to 70 per 100K

The transmissibility index (Rt) of the new coronavirus in Portugal continues to rise, standing on Monday at 0.94, while the incidence decreased to 70 new cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants, according to official data.

According to the joint bulletin of the country’s national health authority, the DGS, and the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA), the Rt is 0.94 in mainland Portugal and islands, up 0.01 compared to the last update on Friday, and 0.93 when only the mainland is considered, also up 0.01.

Regarding the incidence of new cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2, the data shows that it stands at 70 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (75.7 per 100,000 inhabitants on Friday) and 63.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants if only the mainland is considered (66.8 per 100,000 inhabitants on Friday).

Incidence refers to the number of new cases per 100,000 population in the last 14 days.

Portugal on Monday recorded six Covid-19-related deaths and 309 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus, figures that have remained stable since mid-March, according to the DGS.
