Iberdrola installs more 300 electric vehicle charging points in Lisbon

Spanish power company Iberdrola has won a public tender from Lisbon parking company EMEK to install 336 electric charging stations of up to 22 kW in Lisbon, as part of a “green economic recovery”, the Spanish firm said on Monday.

In a statement, Iberdrola said it “undertakes the supply, assembly, commissioning and integration of charging sockets in EMEL parks,” the company that manages mobility and parking in Lisbon.

The charging stations consist of 162 AC sockets with 22 kW and 174 AC sockets with 7.4 kW, both wall- and ground-mounted.

Iberdrola also said that this is “a step towards the consolidation of the company in electric mobility in Portugal, essential for the green recovery in the post-pandemic period.”

Iberdrola is the second-largest operator in the number of clients in Portugal in the free electricity market, with a 17% share, only behind EDP Comercial (77%).
