Mota-Engil wins €636M railway contract in Mexico
The construction company won an international tender in Mexico to build the first section of a new railway line. A contract worth 636 million euros.
Mota-Engil, in partnership with China Communications Construction, is to be responsible for the construction of the first part of a new railway line in Mexico, a contract worth €636 million euros, it has announced to the market.
According to the information sent to the market, the contract covers the construction of 228 kilometres of loine.
The line will serve to promote the economic activity of five southern states – Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, Quintan Roo and Chiapas.
The company said that these awards demonstrate the group’s “technical capabilities”, “shown in various parts of the world”, and strengthens its presence in the Mexican market and the Latin American region.
“By achieving this important commercial objective in Mexico, Mota-Engil reinforces the balance of its activity among the three regions where it operates and confirms the sustainability of its business and the commercial dynamics even in times of pandemic”, it ended.
