EDP inks 78MW wind power purchase deal in Greece
With this new portfolio, the company now has "11.2 GW secured out of a total 20 GW target for additions in 2021-25, as announced at EDP's Capital Markets Day in February 2021".
EDP has secured a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a leading industrial and energy company in Greece for the sale of clean energy produced by a 78MW wind portfolio.
In a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), the company said that the contract with MYTILINEOS – Energy & Metals, secured through subsidiary EDP Renováveis, marks EDP’s first PPA in Greece.
It adds that it will be covered “by a portfolio consisting of three wind projects, which are expected to enter into operation between the end of 2024 and 2025: two projects, of 23 MW and 35 MW, located in Beocia and one of 21 MW, in Achaia.
With this new portfolio, the company now has “11.2 GW secured out of a total 20 GW target for additions in 2021-25, as announced at EDP’s Capital Markets Day in February 2021”.
“Additionally, this transaction allows EDP to secure over 3.6 GW of capacity out of a total 6.7 GW target for renewable capacity additions in Europe for the period 2021-25,” it adds.
