Jerónimo Martins Group invests in Andfjord Salmon

The Portuguese Group accquired 10.1% stake in the Norwegian sustainable salmon production company Andfjord Salmon for €16.8 million.

Jerónimo Martins Group bought a 10.1% stake in the Norwegian sustainable salmon production company Andfjord Salmon for a total of €16.8 million.

Under this agreement, “Andfjord Salmon will issue, and Jerónimo Martins Agro-Alimentar will subscribe for, 4,144,932 new shares in Andfjord Salmon through a directed private placement,” announced the Portuguese company in a press release.

The Norwegian company is focused on using efficient technology to produce salmon, “with less impact on natural resources, therefore contributing to conserve and sustainably use the ocean, the sea and marine resources,” said Jerónimo Martins’ chairman and chief executive, Pedro Soares do Santos, quoted in the press release.

Andfjord chief executive Martin Rasmussen also welcomed the deal: “We are delighted to attract such a major industrial investor to Andfjord Salmon. We consider it an advantage to have an owner that possesses extensive competence about international food industry sales, marketing, logistics and distribution.”
