10-year Portuguese government bond yields rose to 2020 highs

Yields on 10-year Portuguese government bond jumped on Thursday, moments after the European Central Bank (ECB) announced the decision to maintain interest rates, despite record inflation in the Eurozone.

While President Christine Lagarde presented the decisions of the ECB Governing Council, Portuguese 10-year bond yields rose to 0.817%, an increase of 10.3 basis points, to a May 2020 high, according to data from Investing.com.

The upward trend was common to all maturities, with emphasis on the 5-year bond, whose yields crossed the waterline into positive territory, after a rise of 13.6 basis points, to 0.112%.
