Around 29,000 residence permits can be renewed automatically
SEF said that the automatic renewal feature is made within "compliance with security rules and mitigation of the consequences resulting from the health emergency situation."
The Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) will allow the automatic renewal of residence permits that expire by March 31 for about 29,000 foreign citizens.
In a statement, the Foreigners and Borders Service said that this automatic renewal feature is made within “compliance with security rules and mitigation of the consequences resulting from the health emergency situation”.
According to the SEF, the 29,000 foreign citizens covered by this measure are those whose residence permits have expired since January 1 and until March 31.
This security force recalls that in July 2020, it launched a new feature in the “personal area” of the SEF portal where citizens can access the “automatic renewal” of their residence permit, without the need to go in-person to a service counter.
According to SEF, more than 161,000 automatic renewals have been carried out to date.
SEF recalls that it has been adopting exceptional measures, with a view to the recovery of pending issues and efficiency in document management of foreign citizens, namely automatic renewals of residence permits.
