The new CEO takes office on January 1 2022. Gonçalo Nascimento is the new Country Coordinator in Portugal. Cátia Martins, until now CEO, will manage the Professional Products Division in Europe.

Juan Alonso de Lomas will take over as CEO of the new L’Oréal Portugal and L’Oréal Spain cluster, succeeding Cátia Martins at the head of L’Oréal Portugal, who becomes General Manager for the Professional Products Division for all Europe. But there are more changes in the company’s staff: Gonçalo Nascimento is the new Country Coordinator in Portugal. The changes come after the multinational decided to go ahead with an Iberian cluster, which implied the exit of 10% of the workforce in Portugal.

“This new approach will allow L’Oréal to improve efficiency and agility in the highly competitive environment in which it operates. Together we will be stronger to anticipate and lead market changes in both countries to strengthen our market share. We will also promote for our employees a richer intercultural experience, more appealing career paths and development opportunities for the teams, as well as greater responsibilities in many of the functions,” says Juan Alonso de Lomas, quoted in a release.

From January 1 2022, L’Oréal Portugal and L’Oréal Spain will create a cluster for growth in both markets, leveraging existing synergies and complementarities. Around 50 employees will transition, at the beginning of the year, from Portugal to functions from the Madrid offices in teams of the cluster. The new organization implies the dismissal of about 10%, from a total of about 400, of the workforce in Portugal.
