BioNTech/Pfizer children’s covid shots arrive in December
"Around 300,000 vaccines will arrive on December 13 and during the month of January, another 400,000 will arrive," announced the Assistant Secretary of State and Health.
The first 300,000 anti-Covid-19 vaccines for children aged 5 to 11 from BioNTech / Pfizer, arrive in Portugal on December 13, announced the Assistant Secretary of State and Health on Monday.
“Around 300,000 vaccines will arrive on December 13 and during the month of January, another 400,000 will arrive, which, for this population, will be sufficient,” said António Lacerda Sales, noting that “it is a different vaccination because it is a single microgram dose, about one-third of the dose of an adult”.
The total of 700,000 vaccines ensure the national needs “to vaccinate all children from 5 to 11”, in a process of inoculation that is being prepared and that awaits the approval of the Technical Commission on Vaccination, he noted.
He also highlighted the figures regarding vaccination in Portugal and noted the administration of more than 1.5 million booster shots and more than two million flu vaccinations so far, in a country where “85% of the population has the complete vaccination scheme”.
