The Portuguese company has acquired 42% of the Madrid-based company specialising in solar photovoltaic projects for self-consumption in the domestic segment.

GreenVolt on Thursday announced the conclusion of the first phase of the acquisition process of 42% of its Spanish counterpart Perfecta Energía, estimating that the operation will be finalised “in the coming weeks”.

In a statement, the Altri group company said that, “in addition to the acquisition of that stake [whose value was not disclosed], Greenvolt also guarantees the option to acquire the entire share capital of the company in 2024”.

“Greenvolt thus becomes the owner of an important stake in a company with enormous potential in the renewable energy sector in Spain, which is dedicated to the activities of developing energy efficiency projects, as well as installing solar photovoltaic projects for self-consumption in the domestic segment,” says the company led by João Manso Neto.

As it explains, “this business segment is based on the promotion of energy generation through solar photovoltaic source through small-scale units for self-consumption”, being “an unequivocal contribution to a decentralised energy transition model and promoter of efficient solutions in the current context of market prices”.

Founded in Madrid in 2019, Perfecta Energía operates in the renewable energy sector, in the sale, installation and maintenance of solar energy panels for self-consumption for residential clients.

The company operates in the central and eastern region of Spain, but, according to Greenvolt, it is “planned to expand its activity to the entire country”.

After having invoiced 1.7 million euros in 2020, Perfecta sums up, until August this year, accumulated sales of 3.5 million, foreseeing “a very significant growth until the end of the year”.

Greenvolt – Energias Renováveis SA began its activity with the aggregation of several assets of energy production from biomass, forest surplus and agro-forestry, in December 2005.

It currently operates five thermoelectric power plants in Portugal using forest biomass, with around 98 Megawatts (MW) of installed power, and one power plant using urban residual biomass in the United Kingdom, with around 42 MW.

In terms of distributed generation, a market segment in which Perfecta Energía operates, Greenvolt already holds a majority stake in the Portuguese Profit Energy, which is essentially dedicated to energy efficiency solutions for commerce and industry.

Through its subsidiary V-Ridum, Greenvolt is “one of the largest European companies in terms of the development of wind and solar photovoltaic energy projects”, with a ‘pipeline’ of about 3.6 Gigawatts (GW), of which about 1.5 GW “are in an advanced phase or ‘ready to build'”, being present in Poland, Greece, Italy, France, Romania and Bulgaria, among others.

Listed on the stock exchange in mid-July this year, Greenvolt has since 20 September been part of the main national stock market index, the PSI20.
