Ericsson Portugal announces the appointment of new President
The new Executive President of Ericsson in Portugal has about "20 years of experience in leading companies in the technology and telecommunications sector".
Ericsson announced on Thursday the appointment of Sofia Vaz Pires as the new Executive President of Ericsson in Portugal. According to a statement sent by the company, she will be assuming the new position as of 5 July.
With a degree in electrical and computer engineering (specialising in telecommunications) from Instituto Superior Técnico and an MBA from ESADE Business School, Barcelona (Spain), Sofia Vaz Pires has around “20 years of experience in leading companies in the technology and telecommunications sector”.
Her professional career began in 2004 at Ericsson and later she headed to London to join BT Plc, “where she took on the position of VP EMEA Telecom Sales.”
In 2017, still in London, she joined the Japanese multinational Ricoh Company Limited as Vice-President of Global Business Development & EMEA International Sales.
After returning to Portugal, Sofia Vaz Pires takes up a management position at NOS Comunicações, before rejoining Ericsson, the company says, occupying the role of CEO that until last January was held by Luís Silva, who has moved to the Zener Group as Chief Commercial Officer, according to his LinkedIn page.
Ericsson also highlights “her vast and diversified experience in international markets in various companies, functions and geographies, namely Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom and Latin America.”
