There are 1,278 new infections by Covid-19. It is the second day with more cases

The number of people infected with coronavirus continues to increase, and in the last 24 hours, there have been 1,278 new cases.

There have been 1,278 new cases of coronavirus compared to Wednesday, in what is the highest daily number since April 10, when 1,516 cases were reported. Ten people have died in the last 24 hours, according to the latest official report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

Of the total number of infected, most are undergoing treatment at home, with 801 inpatients, 115 of them in intensive care units. There are over 46,000 under the surveillance of the health authorities.

Since it was detected in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has caused the death of 2,050 people, ten of them in the last 24 hours.

As has been observed in recent times, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region concentrates most of the new infections. Of the 1,278 new cases registered in the last 24 hours, 482 were in this region: 37.7% of the total in the country.
