The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the King of Spain, Felipe VI, will meet on Thursday in Pontevedra, Galicia, before participating in the opening of the Forum La Toja.

This meeting is on Felipe VI’s agenda published on the Spanish Royal House website and was confirmed to the Lusa agency by a source from the Presidency of the Republic.

The agenda states that the King of Spain “will hold a meeting with the President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in view of Luso-Spanish relations”, in a hotel on the island of La Toja, in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia.

According to the same portal, the King of Spain will later participate in the opening of the second edition of the Forum La Toja – Atlantic Link, an initiative in which the presence of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was already confirmed.

Forum La Toja, held on the island of the same name, aims to be “a reference event in intellectual and academic debate”, in defence of the “values of liberal democracy”, and in the first edition, last year, was also attended by the King of Spain, Felipe VI.
