Portugal forecasts a deficit of 7.0% for 2020, according to the report to Brussels released this Wednesday, above the 6.3% indicated in the Supplementary Budget, but in line with João Leão' revision.

Portugal’s government foresees a deficit of 7.0% for this year, according to a report to Brussels released today, above the 6.3% pointed out in the amending budget but in line with the revision, the finance minister announced in July.

The government pointed to a deficit of 6.3% for the whole of 2020 in the amending budget, but in July the finance minister, João Leão, told parliament that the government intended to revise its deficit forecast to 7%, incorporating the changes to the amending budget, with impact on spending and revenue due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
