Five deaths and 123 new cases of Covid-19 in Portugal

Lisbon and the Tagus Valley concentrate the largest number of new infections.

Portugal has registered 123 new cases of infection by Covid-19, bringing the number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic to 55,720. In the last 24 hours, five more people have died from the disease, according to the latest update by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS). Lisbon and Tagus Valley again concentrate the largest number of new infections.

Among the cases of infection, 13,039 are currently active, 12 more than the previous day. Since it appeared in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has already caused the death of 1,801 people. The number of people recovered continues to rise, standing at 40,880.

Of the total number of infected people, most are undergoing treatment at home, with 321 people hospitalized, 38 of them in intensive care. There are almost 35,000 people under the surveillance of the health authorities.
