312 new cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in Portugal in the last 24 hours. The total number of infected people rises to 48,077.

There are 312 new cases of coronavirus compared to Wednesday, bringing the total number of people infected with the disease to 48,077. The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region continues to concentrate the highest number of new infections, with 75% of the total. So far 1,682 people have died.

Of the infected people, most are undergoing treatment at home, with only 447 being hospitalized, 67 of them in intensive care. There are 1,735 people awaiting laboratory results and more than 35,000 under surveillance by health authorities.

Lisbon is the region with the most registered cases so far (23,806 cases of infection and 555 deaths), ahead of the North (18,293 cases and 827 deaths), the Centre (4,340 cases and 251 deaths), the Algarve (764 cases and 15 deaths) and the Alentejo (623 cases and 19 deaths). In the islands, the Azores register 152 cases and 15 deaths, while Madeira has 99 infected people.
