Web Summit postponed until December. It will be face-to-face and online
Web Summit postpones edition to early December. The organization prepares an online and offline conference, broadcasted from the Altice Arena and other places in the country.
This year’s Web Summit will take place only in December and, for the first time, it will be online and also face-to-face. The organization led by Paddy Cosgrave announced in a statement this Wednesday.
Scheduled for early November, this year’s edition of the world’s largest conference on entrepreneurship and technology was postponed to the following month and will take place in 2020 between December 2 and 4, with two different components: face-to-face and online.
The organization said the event will “stream talks online from a studio in Lisbon’s Altice Arena, as well as from studios in cities across Portugal”. The Web Summit will also have “a dedicated Portugal channel,” where “CEOs of hundred of Portugal’s leading startups and large companies will be interviewed.”
The team organizing the conference said that the Web Summit will bring together over 100,000 founders of startups, partners and speakers, following the growth of recent years. In the 2019 edition, the conference had about 70 thousand attendees, who were spread throughout the FIL and the Altice Arena, as well as the parallel events that, during the four days of the event, take place throughout the city.
This new mixed edition – online and offline – of the event will be the second online event organized by the team. The first was the Collision (June 23-25). “The online Web Summit will be significantly focused on the Portuguese economic recovery, working together with local authorities to promote the goals and key messages to the right attendees,” the communiqué adds.
