SATA resumes Lisbon-Azores link on June 15

The SATA announced that will resume flights from Lisbon to Ponta Delgada and Terceira, as well as between Funchal and Ponta Delgada.

Portuguese Azores Airlines, part of the SATA group, is to resume flights from Lisbon to Ponta Delgada and Terceira, as well as between Funchal and Ponta Delgada, the carrier said.

The SATA group’s operation had been interrupted since March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it will begin to resume gradually on Friday, first with travel between the Azorean islands and then in three phases to different destinations.

After the resumption, on June 15, trips between Lisbon and the archipelago and Funchal and Ponta Delgada, on June 22, air connections between Lisbon and the airports of Horta and Pico are resumed.

Later, on July 1, the Azores Airlines flights between Porto and Ponta Delgada will resume, as will the international flights to Boston, Toronto, Praia (Cabo Verde) and Frankfurt.

“The resumption of international flights will be subject to the lifting of restrictions on the entry of foreign nationals into Portugal and the various countries, as well as the development of the Covid-19 pandemic in the countries of origin,” the carrier said on Thursday in a statement.

To date, a total of 146 cases of infection have been detected in the Azores, with 128 recovered, 16 deaths and two positive cases active for infection with the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19 disease.
