PSA Peugeot/Citroen plant in Mangualde restarts on Wednesday
The company's activity is resumed on May 6, gradually and with reinforced protection measures, advances the automotive group.
The PSA Peugeot/Citroën Group’s Mangualde Production Centre will resume activity on Wednesday, with production starting on Thursday, in compliance with a health and safety protocol, a press release announces.
“Thanks to a collective effort, validated by the audit carried out on April 6, we can resume production at the Mangualde Centre, gradually and safely. On May 6, the preparation work will begin at the hardware and painting units, and from May 7, all production areas will be in operation,” said director, José Luis Alonso Mosquera who also explained that since he suspended activity on March 18, he has implemented “a protocol of reinforced sanitary measures in the facilities” of Mangualde that contains more than 100 hygiene and safety measures.
In the communiqué, the industrial director of the Groupe PSA clarifies that “the protocol of sanitary measures “gives a high level of protection to employees and is the first criterion for the resumption of activity in the factories”.
Among the more than 100 measures implemented by the group are temperature measurement at the factory entrance, the mandatory use of masks and goggles or visors, the frequent cleaning of tools and work surfaces, and pedestrian routes defined with distance rules.
The factory has also limited access to private areas, such as toilets and canteens, with a reduction in the number of users in the spaces at the same time, and a ban on access to coffee machines, water, snacks and ATMs.
The company provides each employee with a daily ‘kit’ with two masks, glasses or visor, disinfectant gel and gloves, as well as a protector for the car seat for journeys from the factory to the home and, in case of a ride, with a maximum limit of two people per car, is entitled to two more masks.
“The gradual and safe restart of production in the group’s factories will take place in the coming weeks, with a first phase of partial reopening of industrial activity, between May 4 and 11 (from May 11 in France), taking into account the commercial context, reopening of dealers and commercial situation of each model and the progressive normalization of component supply flows”, explains the document.
