Number of Covid-19 cases increases 1.23%. Death toll at 948
The number of people infected with coronavirus in the country has increased to 24,322. There are now 948 deaths.
The Portuguese health authorities have identified 295 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the number of people infected with Covid-19 in the country from 24,027 to 24,322. This is a daily growth rate of 1.23%, an increase of 0.55 percentage points compared to Monday, the day on which the lowest rate in the series was recorded.
In the last 24 hours, 20 more people have died, raising the number of fatalities from 928 to 948, according to the latest update to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate General of Health (DGS). A total of 1,389 people have recovered from the disease since the outbreak in Portugal.
DGS data also show that 995 patients with Covid-19 are currently hospitalized, 176 of which in intensive care units. The majority of deaths were in the age group 70 and above, considered one of the risk groups.
