Unemployment falls to 6.4% in August, estimated 6.6% in September

The August figure represents an upward revision of 0.2 percentage points from the provisional estimate released a month ago.

Portugal’s unemployment rate fell to 6.4% in August this year, which was 0.1 percentage points less than the previous month, and will have risen to 6.6% in September, according to data released by Statistics Portugal (INE) on Wednesday.

According to INE, the provisional estimate of the unemployment rate for September is 6.6%, up 0.2 percentage points from August.

In August, the unemployment rate stood at 6.4%, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, 0.2 percentage points from three months earlier and 0.6 percentage points from the same month in 2018.

The August figure represents an upward revision of 0.2 percentage points from the provisional estimate released a month ago.
