Parliament will question finance minister, Mário Centeno, on Thursday
The finance minister will be questioned this Thursday by MP's, following a unanimous parliamentary decision, for the next set of hearings looking into Novo Banco's situation.
The Portuguese parliament has unanimously approved a next set of hearings into Novo Banco, giving priority to the finance minister, who will be questioned by MPs on Thursday.
Besides Mário Centeno, the members of the Budget, Finance and Public Modernisation Committee have also voted for the hearings of Novo Banco, Resolution Fund and Monitoring Committee’s presidents, looking for clarification about the €1.149 billion the bank has asked for.
Last Friday, the bank disclosed €1.412 billion in liabilities in 2018 and announced a request for €1.149 billion from the Resolution Fund for the bank’s recapitalisation.
Following that request, the finance ministry has announced an audit to the public credit granting process.
