Emigrant remittances increase 3.6% to €3.68 BN

The money sent from Portuguese emigrants to the country increased by 3.6% in 2018, reaching €3.68 billion

Remittances from Portuguese emigrants increased 3.65% in 2018 to €3.68 billion, while funds sent abroad by foreign people working in Portugal increased by 2.63% to €531.8 million, the Bank of Portugal reported on Wednesday.

According to the data, the amounts sent by Portuguese workers abroad rose from €3.34 billion in 2016 to €3.55 million in 2017 and to €3.68 million last year.

Funds sent by foreign workers in Portugal last year increased to €531.8 million, after falling from €533.3 million in 2016 to €518.2 million in 2017.
