The Volkswagen factory in Palmela should resume the normal production rhythm in the morning shift of next Tuesday, January 2 of 2018.

The Volkswagen factory Autoeuropa, in Palmela, will stop its production from this Tuesday until this Friday due to a “shortage in the supply of parts“, as announced by the company.

The car factory should resume its normal production rhythm on the morning shift of the 2nd of January of 2018.

This interruption of output takes place in a troubled time in Autoeuropa due to the new mandatory schedules to ensure the production of the new T-Roc model. This caused the company’s workers to approve, last Wednesday, a two-day strike on the 2nd and 3rd of February, according to Fernando Gonçalves, coordinator of the Workers Council.

According to Fernando Gonçalves, during the different plenaries, the Workers Council presented several claims that will be presented to the administration of Autoeuropa. However, “the document is not yet final” because it will be discussed during January.

Fernando Gonçalves stated “it is a 24-topics document that includes several matters, such performance goals’ bonuses, career progression, health insurance, schooling support, as well as a proposal to increase wages by 6.5% in 2018”.

The new mandatory schedule dictates that between February and July of 2018, employees must work on Saturdays in order to meet the company’s goal of producing 240 thousand T-Roc vehicles in Autoeuropa next year.
