The President of the Portuguese Republic has promulgated the 2018 State Budget. And it left four warnings.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has given the green light to the final version of the 2018 State Budget as a result of the negotiations in Parliament. The President of the Portuguese Republic had been analyzing the document and, this Friday, makes four warnings and gives four reasons for having promulgated the document.

"Having followed the final stages of the State Budget Law for 2018 in the past few weeks, and confronting its successive versions, the President of the Portuguese Republic has decided to move forward with its promulgation.”

“Having followed the final stages of the State Budget Law for 2018 in the past few weeks, and confronting its successive versions, the President of the Portuguese Republic has decided to move forward with its promulgation”, is stated in a press release from the Presidency.

The process that began on October 13 with the 2018 State Budget proposal now comes to an end. This Friday, amidst other warnings, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa warns against the fact that the evolution of the world and European economies might not be as favorable as they were in 2017. The President also points to the “crucial role of internal and external investment”.
