Lone Star puts Horta Osório’s right arm in Novo Banco
Carla Antunes da Silva has been nominated for the General and Supervisory Board of Novo Banco. She is the first Portuguese appointed by Lone Star, and also the first woman in the position.
Carla Antunes da Silva has been nominated for the General and Supervisory Board of Novo Banco. She is one of Horta Osório’s right arm in Lloyds, the first woman to be nominated for the position and also the first Portuguese appointed by the North American fund Lone Star, the new owners of the financial institution headed by António Ramalho.
“NOVO BANCO, S.A. informs that at a General Meeting of the Bank it has been decided to appoint Carla Antunes da Silva as a member of the General and Supervisory Board (GSB) for the current mandate”, is stated in a press release sent by the financial institution to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
According to that press release, Carla Antunes da Silva has been the Strategy Director in Llyods Banking Group, headed by António Horta Osório. But she has more experience in the banking world: in the past 18 years, she has worked at “Credit Suisse, JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank, where she led teams of research and sales of European Banks”, Novo Banco states.
"Novo Banco informs that at a General Meeting of the Bank it has been decided to appoint Carla Antunes da Silva as a member of the General and Supervisory Board (GSB) for the current mandate.”
Academically, her training took place in the United Kingdom, “with a Master of Art (PPE – Politics, Philosophy and Economics) at the University of Oxford and a Master of Science (MSc) Management at the London School of Economics”.
The appointment of Carla Antunes da Silva, one of Horta Osório’s right arms and the first woman on the General and Supervisory Board of Novo Banco, “completes the GSB with a final number of nine members”. All that is left is for ECB to approve her name, so she can begin her works.
