Sonae concludes merger between Sport Zone and JD Sprinter, creating the largest Iberian sports company
The merger operation announced in September of 2017 was concluded after the approval of the European Commission Competition.
The merger operation between Sport Zone and JD Sprinter Holdings is concluded, according to Sonae, in a press release sent to CMVM. The announcement disclosed that the operation was concluded this Wednesday, after the European Commission Competition’s approval.
“Sonae – SGPS, SA hereby announces that yesterday, following the anti trust approval received from the competition authorities on January 18th and the satisfaction of other conditions precedent its subsidiar Sonae MC Modelo Continente SGPS, S., has successfully completed the combination of Sport Zone with JD Sprinter Holdings, which was announced to the market on September 14th 2017″, is stated in the note to the market.
The merger between both companies created the largest Iberian company in the sports articles’ section, because it also includes the leading retail company of the United Kingdom — with over 900 stores — to the sports clothing chain stores from the group Sonae.
